Barbara's
only grandson, Zaid, was abducted to Jordan. Active in writing to her representatives
and participations in programs, Barbara traveled alone to Jordan to see
her grandson. She has courage and drive that is evident in her determination
to speak with Jordanian officials at their embassy in Washington, D.C.
in 1997 when she, along with other parents and grandparents protested the
Jordanian embassy for their violations of the U.N. Convention on
the Rights of the Child. Embassy officials invited Barbara into the
embassy to discuss Zaid's plight after she told them she had traveled all
the way from California and demanded to be allowed in.

was about to win her Hague petition for sexual abuse when her daughter,
Lana-Anaïs, 12 years old now, was abducted from
Franceto
Texas, USA in 1992. The father obtained custody in the US and had a warrant
issued against Bernadette who has no right of visitation. Bernadette was
one of the first to publicly raise the issue of sexual abuse in France.
She was on
several TV shows with Betty Mammoudy, author of "Never without my Daughter."
Yet she has not seen her daughter since the abduction. Bernadette speaks
English.

has two children, Tomas (born 02/21/88) and Renata (born 12/8/93) that
were abducted from Spain to Argentina in February 1995 while Carlos was
on a business trip. The Spanish Court refuses jurisdiction although Spain
was the
habitual and legal residence of the entire family. The Central Authority
has rdenied assistance to Carlos. Carlos has appealed this decision and
is still waiting. Carlos speaks Spanish, Italian, French and English. Carlos
is a Member of the MSCEE.

Gus one of the few outstanding experts in the world when it comes to
mediation and recovery of internationally abducted children. What
sets him apart is not only his military training in hostage negotiations
and terrorism, but his knowledge of international law, customs and issues
relating to international abductions. Gus has been able to successfully
mediate long term cases to successful conclusion when all previous attempts
at resolution have failed.
He is outspoken, candid and always puts the child first. While he does
not accept all cases, he continues to hold a 100% success rate. Gus was
a speaker at the 1998 P.A.R.E.N.T.international

When Jeffrey's daughter, Amanda was abducted to Guatemala, he endured
years of not knowing anything about her. In the summer of 1998, Jeffrey
was able to
travel to Guatemala to visit with Amanda for the first time as a result
of successful mediation by Gus Zamora. Jeffery continues to keep in contact
with Amanda and spent the Christmas holidays with her. Jeffery is a member

Jean-Claude has four daughters including two twins, Laia and Clara
(1977), who were parentally abducted to Brazil in 1980 and recovered in
Spain in 1988.
Cofounder of the MSCEE, Jean-Claude is in charge of the French speaking
part of Switzerland. Jean-Claude wrote the Article 11 of the UN Convention

what motivated this father to abduct and keep his children hidden from

When Pat's daughters, Alia and Aisha, were abducted to Saudi Arabia
over 13 years ago, there was no Division of Children's issues. There were
no organizations equipped to deal with international abduction that was
not a felony offense. Since that time, Pat has worked aggressively with
various legislators, from Senator Dixon's office to Senator Nickles. Her
case has been the impedes for new legislation and she recently worked with
Senator Nickles on the Religious Persecution Act that was passed
this last
congressional session. Politically savvy, Pat has paved the way for
the next generation of abducted children to come home. Pat has spoken at
the National Press Club and appeared on Maury Povich and Prime Time shows.
She has been in various magazines and newspaper features. She is a "role
up your sleeves" woman who is not afraid to get into the heart of things

Depuis ce temps là, Pat a travaillé activement avec plusieurs
législateurs dont les Sénateurs Dixon et Nickles. Son affaire
a été à l'origine d'une nouvelle législation
et elle a récemment travaillé avec le Sénateur Nickles
sur le Décret de Persécution Religieuse qui a été
voté lors de la dernière session du Congrès. Avec
son réel sens de la politique, Pat a ouvert la route du retour pour
la prochaine génération d'enfants enlevés. Pat est
intervenue au National Press Club, et a participé à l'émission
de Maury Povich et à Prime Time. Elle a fait l'objet de plusieurs

dans divers magazines. Elle n'a pas peur de passer à l'action
que ce soit pour manifester à Washington ou pour apporter son soutien

Simone
son's, Florent Ozeir,
11 years old (1999) was abducted to Lebanon by his father in May 98. Ozeir
abducted also his other son Evan, 7, from his current French wife. Simone
is fighting hard to get Florent back and will never quit
until he is back home.

Steve
is the founder of the Knights of Kindness. He developed the coalition for
missing & abused children. Best known on the Internet as Baddteddy,
Steve Nunnally has successfully harnessed the power of the Internet to
assist
missing children. As an online editor, he formed the first editors'
coalition for missing and abused children. These editors donate space in
their online publications to feature missing children... but they do so
much more too. With well over 10 million subscribing members, in 40 countries,
Baddteddy has been able to organize online campaigns, which have resulted
in massive lobbying efforts. These efforts have supported the passage of
new legislation. Steve has attended the candle light vigil in front of
the White House in Washington DC. Even though Steve does not have a missing
child of his own, his tears reflected what is in his heart. Steve continues
to do newspaper interviews and TV appearances on behalf of missing children.
His desire to help missing
children is evidenced in his work as well as he many other online editors
who donate time and effort towards missing children's issues.

Violaine is French and lives in Arizona. She is pictured here with her

Violaine has worked aggressively to join European coalition agency
members to
P.A.R.E.N.T. to bring about greater cooperation and support between
countries.
She also has worked towards the French authorities to have a cooperation
treaty signed between France and Lebanon regarding international abduction
cases. The treaty should be signed in early 1999

Violaine est française et vit en Arizona. Elle figure ici avec

judiciaire concernant les enlèvements d'enfants soit
signé entre la France et le Liban. Cet accord devrait être

Cofounder of Children's Rights Council in Japan
When Walter's daughters, Ema and Mari were retained in Japan, Walter quickly learned that there were few resources available to him to gain access to his daughter's as a result of Japanese law and non-compliance to international treaty. Walter and Brian Thomas, a father from the UK who had a child abducted in Japan, founded the first international chapter of Children's Rights Council, a NGO originating from the US and a member of the P.A.R.E.N.T. coalition. Walter has appeared before the Japanese press club, marched in Washington DC and is a part of the international UN Poster campaign. Walter's belief that the UN Convention on the Right's of the Child treaty was significant in combating international abduction moved him to become one of the first to use this treaty in combating international abduction. The Human Right's Commission in Geneva accepted Walter's report to be used in reviewing Japan's compliance to this treaty.

Walter est intervenu au Club de Presse japonais, a manifesté
à Washington, DC et participe à la campagne des Posters Internationaux
auprès des Nations
Unies. Walter est convaincu que la Convention des Nations Unies pour
les Droits de l'Enfant tient une place significative dans le combat contre
les enlèvements internationaux. Il a été l'un des
premiers à utiliser ce traité pour combattre les enlèvements
internationaux. La commission des Droits de l'Homme à Genève
a accepté d'utiliser le rapport de Walter lors de la session
examinant le respect de cette convention par le Japon.

which have gone unendorsed. William stands in front of a foreign embassy

Ty's children have been abducted to Brazil. Although he has tried all
avenues available through the US Department of State, he continues to be
denied access to his children. Ty is an active participant in P.A.R.E.N.T.
and has attended
the P.A.R.E.N.T. as well as marches on foreign embassies in Washington,
DC.
Ty's protest in front of the Brazilian embassy resulted in direct contact
with those officials and Brazilian authorities provided limited assistance.
